Dog beach rules by town | Paws on the Sand

Massachusetts

Mashpee and Wellfleet town beaches aren't on the map yet: Mashpee's code bans dogs from its public beaches, and we're still checking Wellfleet's 2023 beach rules. Nantucket beaches aren't on the map: the town says no dogs on lifeguarded beaches but doesn't publish the lifeguard season dates. Edgartown's Bend in the Road Beach (no dogs at any time) and Gloucester's Crab Beach (off-leash all year) aren't mapped yet because we couldn't find a reliable map position.

New Hampshire

New Castle beaches aren't on the map yet: guides say no dogs from May 15 to September 15, but we haven't confirmed this with the town. Hampton and Seabrook rules come from guides and are marked not yet confirmed.

Maine

Footbridge Beach and the York beaches aren't on the map yet.

Rhode Island

Newport's Easton's Beach isn't on the map: the city code says no dogs on the beach, but we couldn't confirm whether that's all year. Middletown's beaches are still to check.

Connecticut

Connecticut town beaches aren't on the map yet.

New York

Long Island town and village beaches aren't on the map yet; many are for residents only.

New Jersey

Wildwood's leashed dog beach (Poplar Avenue) and Belmar's off-season dog stretch (October to April, First Avenue to the Spring Lake border) aren't pinned yet. Cape May Point bans dogs on its beaches from April 1 to October 31 (2024 beach plan), but isn't pinned yet. Other LBI towns aren't checked yet.

Delaware

Lewes, Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach aren't on the map yet.

Maryland

Town of Ocean City

Assateague Island National Seashore isn't on the map yet: leashed pets are allowed on much of the Maryland beach, but not the lifeguarded beach, parts of the state park, or anywhere on the Virginia side.

Virginia

First Landing State Park isn't on the map yet. Pets aren't allowed anywhere on the Virginia side of Assateague Island (Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge).

North Carolina

Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach aren't on the map yet. Kill Devil Hills comes from the visitors bureau and is marked not yet confirmed.

South Carolina

Surfside Beach, Pawleys Island, Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island aren't on the map yet.

Georgia

Cumberland Island National Seashore isn't on the map yet.

Florida

Volusia County's two other dog areas (Ormond Beach, Rockefeller Drive to Milsap Road; Daytona Beach, Williams Avenue to Seabreeze Boulevard) aren't pinned yet. Most other Florida town beaches aren't checked yet.

Alabama

Orange Beach bans dogs on its Gulf beaches, but we haven't added a map pin for it yet. Fort Morgan and Dauphin Island aren't checked yet.

Mississippi

Louisiana
